THE MARILYN MONROE EFFECT

MARILYN MONROE |

If Marilyn Monroe was alive today do you think she would be engrossed with social media as our current crop of 'talent' are today? Then again, Marilyn Monroe was infamous for her sex-appeal and knowing how to wield her sexuality on men in power and position. Much like the present generation company. Social media is known and used to lure eyeballs and elicit arousal of not only the mind but of the hormonal type.
So many of today's people and 'talent' love quoting Marilyn Monroe or reference her in their goal achievements, but do you really think they know anything about Marilyn Monroe? Do those people who idolize and/or quote Marilyn Monroe are going by her acting skills or her great talent prowess? OR, are they just going by the appearance, the perceived notion of her supposedly happy and glamorous life or her supposedly Hollywood fairytale lifestyle? As usual, beneath the outer facade lies a dark and sad story and Marilyn Monroe is no different. But just like everything else in our one-dimensional society - All that counts is the flash, glamour and the perceived notion of fame, success and power. Just as social media has transformed into a looking glass for society.
Maybe Marilyn Monroe would feel right at home with social media. Besides, it fits with her legacy: Glamour, entitlement, superficial exterior, with the willingness to trade herself for power or position. Just like today.
